I began practicing as a Naturopathic Doctor in 2007. I graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, a four- year doctorate level medical school, after completing my undergraduate degree in Exercise Science at the University at Buffalo. I am currently a Connecticut State Licensed Naturopathic Doctor practicing in Rochester and Lakeville NY.
I was first introduced to alternative and complementary medicine when I was seeking care for my own health concerns. In high school I found my self ill and in bed for 2 weeks, with no answers from the doctors. I went from being a top athlete and student with outstanding energy and enthusiasm to barely being able to hold my arms up to brush my hair. I was diagnosed with a myriad of illnesses including irritable bowel syndrome, irritable bladder, fibromyalgia, raynaud's, melanoma and went through a battery of testing... all of which gave no answers. I eventually was told that my illness was all in my head and was prescribed medication after medication which all gave me extensive side effects. I turned to natural medicine and began my journey to better health.
With healthy nutrition and exercise as a foundation, I used supplements, herbal medicine, biotherapeutic drainage, homeopathy, acupuncture, manipulation, craniosacral therapy, and relaxation techniques recommended by various practitioners. Over time my body gained strength and I was able to get my life back. I decided to go to Naturopathic Medical School to deepen my knowledge of natural medicine and share healing with others. It wasn't until many years later that I found that the cause of my illness was chronic lyme disease which was detected through IGeneX laboratory testing.
I have also had the priviledge of seeing both my brother and sister be successfully treated for autoimmune diseases (gamma-globulin deficiency and lupus) through the use of Naturopathic modalities and Biotherapeutic Drainage.
I am now enjoying a healthy life, living on a small farm in the country with my husband, Howard, and two healthy children, Ayla and Ben.
